ClickBank Marketplace Affiliate Marketing Tips

Clickbank MarketingThe ClickBank Marketplace is the largest on-line "clearinghouse” of affiliate products. You can find just the right product for you to promote. That being said, how you find that right product and how do you promote it?

In every niche imaginable, there are products that have been placed on the ClickBank Marketplace by the developers of that product for you promote, and make anywhere from 35 – 75% commissions. They provide the payment method and the total security for your customers to make their purchases, they take care of issuing your commissions when a sale is made and they take care of any refunds that are needed. That comes off your commission, but hey, that’s the cost of doing business!

Finding products to promote:

Looking for the right product is as easy as logging on and searching for something that you think you might like to promote. You can search by popularity, by keyword, by price, even by products that are monthly billings. The niche can be just about anything you can think of. If you can think of it, someone has, probably, already thought of it and put something together to sell. However, be aware that some niches are highly competitive and most of the sales are often made by just a handful of highly experienced affiliates with big databases or high ranking web sites. Sometimes (but not always) it is better to look for smaller niches in categories like crafts or hobbies.

There are e-books and product memberships on a diverse range of category niches listed in the ClickBank Marketplace like: scrapbooking, internet marketing, model trains, fishing, golf, cooking, health and fitness, parenting, languages, spirituality, software, travel, business etc. When you delve deeper into each category you’ll see products in very specific niches. As an example there are ClickBank products on a range of fishing topics including: fish bait formulas, caring for tropical fish, tuna fishing, carp fishing, making flies, koi fish ponds and more. So, as you can see most of the products are very specific and target a unique niche.

Be careful reading the statistics:

As for looking for just the right product that will have the best chance of selling, you need to look a little bit further in the ClickBank Marketplace for all of the information it has that will help you to do that. Look for the gravity number. No that is not the one that Issac Newton gave us, that is the indication of how many units have been sold based on the number of affiliates that are promoting it. A good high number, 40 – 110 is a good number to have in this position. It means it is selling pretty well and you can go onto the next criteria.

However, be warned, sometimes it is best to promote products that other affiliates aren’t. As an example; I know of a two model train club products featured in the ClickBank Marketplace where one has a low gravity and the other a high gravity. The interesting thing is, after examining the two membership products closely; my conclusion is the product with the lower gravity is the superior product. When I researched it I discovered one membership site (the one with the higher gravity) had been operating a year longer than the other so the average sale statistics appeared higher (due to longevity), hence the reason why most affiliates assumed (in my opinion wrongly) that the product with the higher average sale was the better selling product. So, be careful reading gravity and average sale statistics as they may not show the true story. There could be a hidden goldmine other affiliates haven’t discovered. A lot of affiliates are like sheep and all follow each other.

More things to look for:

The refund rate is a good number to look at. Is it very high? Then stay away from it. This indicates that many people are asking for their money back! That does not bode well for you as you want to deal with something that has credibility and staying power. However, be aware that some product niches attract a higher refund rate than others. Also, most membership sites will have people unsubscribing each month through natural attrition.

Then go and look at the web site. Is it a powerful sales tool? Does it grab you and make you want click on the Buy Now button? It might be a good one to try. Leave the web site on one tab, get the affiliate link from the ClickBank Marketplace, put it on a notepad doc and then turn your attentions to the promotion part.

Many of the listings have a link that will take you to the affiliate resources page of the owner’s website. If one is not there, go to the sales page you still have on the other tab, go to the bottom and look for a link that says: Affiliates or Make Money, go to that page. In either case, you will be presented with some information about promoting that product. This is a very good place to start and, when promoting an affiliate site from the ClickBank Marketplace or anywhere else, remember two words: Capture Page!
